So you joined the slimefun server, and you ask yourself, "What is Slimefun? How do I start Slimefun? What makes this server different from regular Survival?"
At this point, one would normally do a websearch, however, here is a basic guide to get you started.
Slimefun (SF) is a plugin that adds many features, such as jetpacks, staves, androids, explosive pickaxes and oranges. Think of it as a modded minecraft, but without having to install any mods on your client. Besides the addition of this plugin, the SF and Survival servers are near identical in terms of features and other plugins.
Before getting started on using the features of SF, it is recommended that you have achieved the following:
- A base with all the necessities of Survival gameplay
- The ability to craft dispensers (requires redstone and bows)
- An exp farm
- A good supply of coal, cobblestone and gravel
- Obtained resources from a nether fortress
If you haven't got one already, give yourself a SF Book by typing /sf guide. When opened, this book presents you with a menu for all SF-related recipes.
By spending levels of exp, you can unlock recipes for anything SF has to offer. Note that every time you unlock something, fireworks will be launched to celebrate; this can be turned off in the Guide's settings, otherwise make sure there's clear space above your head to prevent getting hurt.
The first thing you should do is enter the Basic Machines menu and unlock the Enhanced Crafting Table (ECT) to get the most out of SF. The ECT is a multiblock machine, simply place a crafting table on an upwards-facing dispenser, like you are building a snow golem.
Once you have built an ECT, you can unlock and use recipes for tools, weapons and other useful items. To use the ECT, open the dispenser, use the grid inside as a crafting table for SF recipes, then right click the crafting table on top of the dispenser to create the item.
After building the ECT, you should build other Basic Machines to fully utilise the materials you get from mining. Most of these are multiblocks just like the ECT, so make some space in your base to house these machines. Through these machines, a wide variety of SF things can be made. Explore the guide and work your way towards the features you like!
Essential Machines:
Grindstone: Turns cobblestone and other rock type blocks into gravel for panning.
Auto Panning Machine: Has a chance to turn gravel into sifted ore for washing. This can also be done by manually clicking gravel with a gold pan, which can be crafted in the ECT.
Ore Washer: Turns the sifted ore into metal dust for smelting. Also produces stone chunks.
Smelter: Turns metal dust into ingots depending on combination, using a lit fire underneath for fuel. The fire will get used up after a few smelts, so have a lighter handy (or an Automatic Ignition Chamber placed behind the Smelter dispenser)
Compressor: Converts excess flint and stone chunks from panning and washing back into cobblestone for regrinding.
